Bitcoin Dips Below $10,000 – 17 January, 2018
Bitcoin fell to $9,186, its lowest in six weeks, and ended the day trading at $10,780, due to increased scrutiny from regulators. The cryptocurrency reached a total of $140 billion in losses since December with its market value dropping from $310 billion to $170 billion. Cryptocurrency exchange Bitconnect is shutting down, while Kraken, one of the largest trading platforms, was offline all week due to update issues. In addition, Asian traders have been cashing out in preparation to buy gifts for the Lunar New Year in February.
