Brexit Negotiations Help Dollar Break Streak – 13 March, 2019

After dropping 0.4 percent overnight, the dollar index, against a basket of major currencies, last stood at 96.505 after nine straight days not nudging from a low of 96.385. The greenback was put on the back-burner when British lawmakers votes against a possible no Brexit deal and a delay in the scheduled divorce caused sterling to rally over 2 percent. The British currency was 0.4 percent lower at $1.3285, having reached its highest since the summer just the day before at $ 1.3380. Against the yen, the dollar gained slightly to 11.25 yen having dipped 0.2 percent the previous session, while the euro remained steady, having gained 0.3 percent overnight.  Finally, the Australian dollar gave back previous day gains, dipping 0.2 percent to $0.7081.
