Cautious Optimism Pushes Pound to Two-Week High – 22 August, 2018
For the first time in two weeks, the British pound hit a high against the U.S. dollar as Brexit negotiations resume this week and experts remain cautiously optimistic. The dollar, however, is still being held back by comments earlier this week made by Donald Trump when he expressed his dissatisfaction with the Feds decision to raise interest rates. Sterling reached a high of $1.2936 against the greenback and settles at $1.2924 after falling to a 14 month low last week. Sterling was 0.1 percent higher at $1.2910, but was 0.2 percent lower against the euro at 89.81 pence per euro.
