China Reopens Trade Talks, Dollar Gains Against Yen – 9 October, 2019
With reports that China is still open to coming to a trade deal with the U.S., the dollar advanced to a one week high against the yen, just one day after trade tensions were in the spotlight after the U.S. denied visas to Chinese government officials for their treatment of Muslim minorities. Against the safe haven yen, the dollar slightly higher, strengthening by 0.43% to 107.53 yen, and rose 0.3% against the Swiss franc. The dollar index was relatively flat, and the pound dipped 0.05% to $1.229 against the dollar before settling at $1.2211.
