Dollar Gains On Hopeful Global Economy Strategies – 19 August, 2019
The dollar gained against major currencies on hopes that the global economy is stabilizing and that central banks will release new stimulus measures. Against the dollar, the yen fell for its third straight day, and the Swiss franc hit a two week low. The dollar gained 0.3% against the yen to 1066.66 yen, causing the dollar index to rise 0.2% to 98.358. The euro dipped to the dollar at $1.1079, falling 0.1%, while the greenback managed to climb 0.3% to 0.9816 against the Swiss franc.
