Dollar Inches Up Vs. Yen – 26 June, 2019

Optimism over U.S.- China trade talks helped the dollar gain versus the yen, with the currency reaching a one week high, though investors remained cautious before a meeting in Japan between the leaders. Against the yen, the dollar was steady at 107.730 yen, gaining 0.6% overnight and reaching as high as 107.850 yen. Against a basket of six major currencies, the dollar was a bit lower at 96.196, gaining from the three week low of 95.843 at the start of the week. The euro remained steady after gaining 0.05% on Wednesday to $1.1369, while the Australian dollar was just under a 2 1/2 week high of $0.6995.
