Dollar Steadies, Investors Look To Other Assets – 1 November, 2018

The dollar steadied on the release of U.S. job reports after dipping from its 16 month highs the previous sessions, dropping as investors moved into other assets. Against a basket of six major currencies, the dollar index was flat at 96.375 after having dropped 0.9 percent overnight and competing with sterlings gains. On Wednesday, the dollar index had risen to 97.00, its highest since February 2017. Against the yen, the dollar was steady at 112.710 yen after losing 0.25 percent the previous day. The euro dipped by a slight 0.05 percent to $1.1400 after gaining 0.9 percent overnight.
