Euro Floats Just Above Two Month Low – 24 July, 2019
The euro was floating just above a two month low, ahead of a scheduled European Central Bank meeting scheduled to take place this week where the bank will determine best measures in possibly lowering interest rates. French business growth was slower than expected, while German manufacturing was performing at its highest speed in 7 years, both which rippled effects onto the currency. After touching its lowest since the end of May at $1.11270, the euro settled a tad higher at $1.11415, with the currency falling 2.0% so far this month. Sterling was slightly lower at $.12484, while the dollar last stood at 108.200 yen, with the dollar index settling at 97.701 after hitting an eight week high of 97.810 in the previous session.
