Euro Steadies Ahead of This Week’s Central Bank Meeting – 8 March, 2022

The euro steadied ahead of this week’s central bank meeting while commodities such as oil and metals saw seesawing as the Russian attacks on Ukraine left investors reckoned war-driven surges and the possibility of crimping demand down the line. After recovering from Mondays 22 month low of $1.0806, the euro steadied at $1.0898 as officials and the European Union were discussing joint bond issuance according to a Bloomberg News report. Sterling remained near a 16 month low of $1.3100, and the dollar index was just below 99.090. The Australian dollar was just about 2% below Mondays four month high of $0.7440, steadying at $0.7274. The kiwi is roughly 1.7% lower than the previous session at $0.6809. The yen touched a three-week low of 115.87 this week.
