Euro and Yuan Gain Despite Trump’s Comments – 3 July, 2019
The dollar was little changed ahed of the U.S. Fourth of July holiday, but President Trump didn’t hold back comments about China and Europe manipulating their economy and currencies by pumping out money. The euro rose 0.1% to $1.1285, while the offshore yuan also gained 0.1% to 6.8774 per dollar and the Japanese yen remained steady at 107.77 per dollar. In commodities, U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude dipped 0.7% to $56.96 per barrel, and gold rose by 0.2% to $1,420.82 per ounce.
