German business sentiment is rising more than expected
The IFO Economic Institute said today that German business sentiment rose more than expected in February. Rising to 92.4 points, the highest level since October, recovering from a six-month low of 90.3 points in January.
The IFO Institute’s future outlook index in the largest economy in Europe rose to 94.2 points in February. This is compared to 91.5 points in January, and the current conditions index rose to 90.6 points in February from 89.2 in January.
German Chancellor Angla Merkel agreed with state prime ministers to extend the lockdown until March 7. This is to limit the spread of the coronavirus, and last month the German government lowered its forecast for GDP growth to 3% this year.
