Gold Hits $1,800 Before The Holidays – 23 December, 2021

Ahead of the year end holidays, gold prices hovered around $1,800 per despite an appetite for more risk as Omicron worries dwindle, helping the dollar steady. U.S. gold futures rose 0.2% to $1,805.20 per ounce while spot gold was up 0.1% to $1,805.29 per ounce. The greenback was near a one week low helping the precious metal in its small weekly gain. The U.S. Federal Reserve signaled its inflation target had been reached when they met earlier this month. Riskier currencies also hit recent highs as investors confidence in the ability to curb Omicron and spare global economies grew.
