Impressive Labor Data Helps Pound Gain – 16 October, 2018
Strong labor data helped the pound rise above $1.32, but doubts of Brexit progress from investors believe the gains are limited. British workers wages grew at their fastest pace in 10 years during the summer, helping sterling rise 0.4 percent to $1.3235 and 0.3 percent against the euro to 87.75 pence per euro. Wednesday’s EU summit hopes to clarify an agreement and border plan between Northern Ireland and Ireland, an EU member, when Britain leaves the bloc.
