Job opportunities available in America unexpectedly rise in April
A report showed that job opportunities in the United States increased by 358 thousand jobs to 10.1 million jobs in April, and March data was revised upwards to 9.75 million jobs instead of 9.59 million. Analysts had expected job opportunities to rise to 9.375 million in April, layoffs fell by 264 thousand to 1.6 million, and layoffs fell by 113 thousand in the construction sector. Jobs in the retail trade rose to 209 thousand jobs, and the field of health care and social assistance added 185 thousand jobs. Also, jobs in the transportation, storage and utilities sector increased by 154 thousand jobs.
