No Brexit Deal Worries Sends Pound To Almost Two Year Low – 5 August, 2019
The pound hit an almost 2 year low against the euro with the October Brexit deadline quickly approaching and investors fear of a divorce from the European Union without a deal at an all time high. The British currency also fell to just above a 31 month low against the dollar, with Prime Minister Boris Johnson stating that come October 31 Britain will be leaving with or without a deal. Against the euro, sterling was last down 0.7% to 92.01 pence, hitting a two year low of 92.04 in earlier trading. The pound was flat against the dollar at $1.2168, just above a January 2017 low of $1.2080.
