Pound Rises, Brexit Uncertainty Leaves Investors Cautious – 18 February, 2019
Unsuccessful Brexit talks between the European Union and Britain have investors at the edge of their seats, with sterling gaining after three consecutive weeks of losses. The pound rose 0.3 percent to $1.2929, and gained 0.2 percent against the euro to 87.30 pence. With the divorce scheduled to take place in just over a month, business leaders worry about the chaos of a no-deal Brexit vote on March 29 and Theresa Mays ability to persuade some EU leaders with a deal by then.
