Prime Ministers Diagnosis Causes Sterling to Dip – 6 April, 2020
Prime Minister boris Johnson’s sudden rush to the ICU after a persistent fever caused by a positive coronavirus test caused the pound to fall against the dollar and euro. Though undergoing treatments, the Prime Minister’s office said he was still conscious, but all precautions are being taken as many wait for an update. Against the dollar, sterling fell to $1.224 from $1.230 after the news broke. The euro was up 0.881 pence from 0.877 before the report. The Australian dollar was 1.50% higher at $0.6085, while the dollar gained 0.59% against the yen to 109.09 yen. Against the dollar, the single currency euro was 0.11% lower to $1.0796.
