Sterling continues to be weight down by dollar – 24 April, 2019
Sterling hit a nearly two month low as uncertainty over the future of Britain and Prime Minister Theresa May remain in limbo. The pound edged 0.1 percent lower to $1.2949, its lowest since mid February. Sterling gained 0.3 percent against the euro to 86.46 pence. Against a basket of six major currencies, the dollar gained and hit a 22 month high overnight. Sterling has continued to be weighed down by a rally in the dollar, as well as diminishing hopes that the British government and the opposition will have breakthrough in Brexit talks.
