Sterling Dips On Doubt Of Mays Ability To Gain Vote – 8 January, 2019
An expected volatile week is expected in the UK as Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit withdrawal agreement is set to be the subject of debate for British lawmakers, a conversation that caused sterling to drop half a percent, coupled with a stronger dollar. With doubt of her ability to convince opponents, May is expected to lose the vote on January 15. On Tuesday, the pound traded as high as $1.2797, before dipping half a percent to land at $1.2720. Against the euro, sterling was little changed at 89.875 pence per euro.
