Sterling Jumps Briefly After BoE Rate Announcement – 22 March, 2018
The pound hit the $1.42 mark briefly before falling back, against the dollar it landed lower than before the BoE Monetary Policy Committee’s vote to keep its 0.5 percent rate. It also briefly jumped to its highest in nine months against the euro after two of the votes backed the interest rate hike before settling back down. The pound remains steady against the euro at 87.230 pence. Sterling rose briefly to $1.4220 against the dollar but fell back down to $1.4114, down 0.2 percent lower than before the rate announcement.
