The Canadian dollar falls against the US dollar from its highest level in two months
The Canadian dollar fell against the US dollar today from its highest level in two months, with the decline in the price of US oil, one of Canada’s main exports, by 3.9%, to $67.46 a barrel.
The Canadian dollar fell against the US dollar, by 0.3%, to $1.3375, after rising on Friday to $1.3311. The main dollar index, which measures the performance of the US currency against 6 major currencies, fell by 0.5% last week, its largest weekly decline since mid-April.
Canadian bond yields were lower across the curve as the 10-year note eased 2 basis points to 3.355%, and the gap between it and its US equivalent widened by 4.6 basis points to about 42 basis points in favor of US bonds.
