Trump Names Powell Head of Federal Reserve – 2 November, 2017
Jerome H. Powell was appointed to chair the Federal Reserve by president Trump on Thursday, surpassing Janet L. Yellen for a second term. Mr. Powell has been on the Fed’s board since 2012, and has continuously voted to slowly raise interest rates and sell some of the assets the Fed acquired after the 2008 recession. While his education and experiences may not be in line with that of past chair members, he is seen as the “convenient” choice.
