US unemployment benefits rose to the highest level in 3 months

US jobless claims rose to the highest level in three months, as the US Department of Labor said that US jobless claims rose by 17,000 to a seasonally adjusted 240,000 for the week ending November 19, the highest level since mid-August.

Un-adjusted jobless claims rose by 47,909 to 248,185 with an increase of 5,024 in California, and continuing claims rose by 48,000 to 1.551 million for the week ending November 12.

Data released by the US Department of Commerce showed that orders for core capital goods rose 0.7% in October compared to 0.8% in September, and shipments of core capital goods rose 1.3% in October after declining by 0.1% in September.
